When
14th November 2009 - 3rd January 2010
Where
Parkers Piece
Get into the Christmas spirit with a spot of ice skating. Cambridge Parkers Piece is yet again hosting an outdoor rink as well as a Christmas market and funfair to help chase away those winter chills.
Double Blades
Even those who aren't confident they'll be able to stay upright can have a go because the Cambridge On Ice rink has some tricks to help you maintain your cool while ice skating. Cambridge On Ice can supply children with double-bladed skates to help them stay upright, and also crash helmets just in case they do take a tumble.
Special Sessions
Parent and toddlers and senior citizens (which includes over 50s rather than just over 60s) can whiz about on the ice without worrying about getting knocked over. There are special sessions and both groups can get discounts on all ice skating. Cambridge schools also receive a reduction in the normal ticket price but booking early is advised.
Office Party
You can book a more adventurous Christmas party with one of the Cambridge On Ice party nights. As well as two hours of ice skating, Cambridge businesses will be treated to gluwein, a buffet, beer and music. Groups of more than 10 are entitled to a 10 per cent discount and, as the rink at Parkers Piece is open late, it makes a great alternative to the traditional office party.
VIP Launch
If ice skating doesn't appeal to you it's still worth heading down to the Parkers Piece ice rink. You can pick up some gifts at the Christmas market, have a whirl on the traditional carousel and warm up with a hot drink at the ice rink cafe while watching the ice skating. Cambridge skaters, however, can buy season tickets for the rink, and if you buy them early you'll receive a free invitation to the rink's VIP launch.
