Wild Laughter
D'Oyly Carte stage clown Albert James tells his story through other celebrated clowns - Feste, Grimaldi, Bernhardt and Chaplin - as the show's creators fuse biography, cultural history and family experience. The piece engages with the theme of identities in a number of ways - most obviously because it is a performance about performance and also because it is a one-woman show in which most of the characters are male. There will be a 30-40 minute performance followed by a 20 minutes audience Q & A session. This event should appeal to anyone with an interest in popular performance, cultural history and literature but also to anyone who enjoys a good show.
