Was intrigued by this venue and have been meaning to try it for a while now. Finally we took the plunge and visited on Saturday evening. Interesting decor and very friendly staff made for a very enjoyable evening, an international menu with plenty of choices left us unsure what to order, but we chose 3 of the sharing dishes to mix between six of us and we all very much enjoyed them indeed.good food, good hospitality and staff that seem to care are things that are lacking nowadays in many places but not at the missing sock.
It was very unusual with the decor.
I was surprised that the Asian platter was not recommended because the chef couldn't cook it properly.
We felt quite limited after that and had the meat platter which unfortunately in one of the wraps didn't have any meat.
The overall experience was ok.
I don't think I would come back even though the staff were very friendly the food let them down.
Great Sunday buffet lunch with family. No hassle, lots of space and interest for kids. Better when animal petting centre open but thoroughly enjoyable experience. Integrating the children in service was original especially the table hand washing.
We have booked our eldest into a kindness birthday celebration, staggering but true the refreshment is free. It works on a pass it forward idea, challenging m but we fancy giving our daughter a giving experience with her friends.
We where offered a wisdom trail, it just goes on. fully recommend Sunday but book ahead and get the buffet early otherwise you may miss out on some of the limited sampler dishes
I just have to give this place a max rating for its originality, just wish i could go more often.
We popped in on Saturday evening after a tiring journey from Leeds, that pop in became 3 hours long. We all had a fantastic night with live music, a sharing platter of international food from Africa and Asia. Although my wife became squiffy with too many cocktails, she even helped make the last few, just fun.
It's just in the wrong location, what a waste. I hope it can prosper at least until my 50th, i just can't imagine a better place to celebrate.
a breath of fresh air in hospitality
We visited last night to celebrate our Birthday. Fantastic cocktails. Mouthwatering.
Prices are much cheaper than any other bar in cambridge as £5 per cocktail with premium spirits and fresh organic products. Wow! I would reccomend my friends to try their famous cuban mojito. Food was very international with fine balance of flavour with good selections. Hawaian Chicken and Tokyo Honk was delicious.
We will come back soon thanks to the Missing Sock for having great time there.
Friendly, efficient service.
Despite extremely busy festive season food arrived hot and well cooked and in a timely manner, never felt rushed in any way. The owner was welcoming and found time to come and speak with new patrons, he seemed actively interested in feedback.
I am astounded by previous reviews complaining about the price, the restaurant is cheaper than many comparable eateries in price and offers considerable vallue when compared to the over inflated prices in cambridge. The food was excellent.
Bar prices were higher than a pub, but then it isnt a pub. Still considerably cheaper than most cambridge bars who charge approximately a fiver for a gin and tonic. If the previous reviewer believed themselves to be overcharged perhaps they should have complained at the time? One can only wonder why they didn't as this would be normal at a restaurant where one had issues with the service.
The venue is clearly in its infancy and offers an excellent variety of spaces for conferencing and workshops of al kinds. Hopefully their increasing musical evenings and folk club will pick up as it offers something different from the normal run of the mill availability in this area.
Will be returning to sample foods of the world and support the venues efforts to involve itself in the local community and arts projects.
The Missing Sock, we just had to call in and see this venue. We were pleased we dropped in to The Missing Sock because we found something unique and different. We shall be calling in to The Missing Sock regularly. The people were all friendly, the food was good, the prices reasonable. We are looking forward to going back to The Missing Sock, what a jewel. They do functions too. They have The Missing Sock bus where cocktails can be served and is used for a variety of events. We recommend The Missing Sock, you should try it and see.
I have to say I and everyone who was with us when we visited the Missing Sock will not be returning for another session of complete ripping off.
It was sad to be completely taken for a mug by the owner of this establishment.
Every time we went to either bar of this place the price went up, it has got to be the most expensive night i have ever had.
You expect to pay premium rate in a night club but not a crummy pub.
Sad sad day and evening.
Recommended if you want something different, great food and quirky decor. staff were all friendly. 5 miles from town centre, bus a bit of a pain but worth it. will be back for my celebration on their bus and have a great pirate garden feature not quite finished
