This is basically a pub with huge amount of potential and license to print money in the right hands. Shame its not at present due to an unpopular landlord. Most of the old regulars no dispersed in other pubs both far and near.

Quality of the beer is poor and the range on offer is again poorly thought out from the Greene King list. Too much emphasis, like the Alma nearby, is placed on weaker brews where more will be sold to the punters. The result is that many beer drinkers have moved on and the evening trade has been killed off by this miserable and rude publican. I do wonder if this is a Greene King policy to put these landlords in these pubs to justify closure to re-develop the sites. The question being is GK's key business, property asset management or brewing?

Rumours abound as to the current incumbent is considering retirement. As locals, we are keen for him to make up his mind and go, then hopefully, we can have our pub back.

I have just returned to the office after lunch with colleagues at the Panton Arms, which we chose as a change to our regular venue, the Salisbury Arms. Suffice to say we will not return any time soon. The first of our food orders (made before 12:45) did not arrive until after 1:30 and the others had to wait over an hour for their food. During this time other tables were given odd plates of food, but no one table received all their food in one go. A hurried "Sorry, but 40 people came in at once" doesn't really wash when it's Friday lunchtime and the pub is only about 75% full.
