An average boozer with the potential for character which is shattered by the drunkenness of its customers.

The Venue
Even though it’s in the busy area of Regent Street, once you step inside you feel completely cut off from it all.

The pub itself is split into three main areas – the front seating area that you see first as you step in, there's the bar at the back, then if you wander through there is a pleasant conservatory area with an outside courtyard.

There's the possibility of a lively pub with different areas giving different moods, but somehow it falls flat.

The decor is bland, with yellow and red walls which do add warmth but there is basic, dull furniture, mostly gathered in the darker part of the pub therefore wasting lots of the light coming in from the conservatory.

The People
The crowd at the Prince Regent is a mixed bunch, with people of all ages enjoying the cheap drinks. Most of them seem friendly and relaxed, however, it only takes one group of friends to get too drunk and the atmosphere becomes uncomfortable and tedious.

There’s quite a blokey atmosphere, which means there can be some light-hearted banter flying around, and the women here enjoy a ladette culture.

You have to be up for a laugh and a lot of drinks to get into the spirit at the Prince Regent. The service is rather cold and a bit slow but it doesn’t seem to bother the regulars too much.

The Drink
The choice of drinks is quite limited, even in beers and ales. There are Greene King Ales, such as IPA, Abbots and Old Speckled Hen, but they’re not always available, and they’re priced at an average of £2.80.

The beers on tap are around £3 for brands such as Fosters, Carling and Stella. The spirits and wines are as basic as they come, but cheap for just over £2 for a spirit measure and bottles for £12 average.

The Last Word
It’s not exciting or charismatic, but no one will judge you here no matter how many pints you have.
