Poor. Beer tastes very odd. Is it the pipes or the cleaner? It always has a rather unpleasant background tang. Food is typical, I imagine. My burger came with about six chips so you get exactly what you pay for. My half-full glass was cleared by an over-enthusiastic member of staff while I was ordering food. He told me I had seen what he was doing and should have intervened earlier! Quite why I would want to have behaved like this was not made clear! A replacement half was forthcoming. An apology was not. I asked to speak to the manager and found out that he and the unapologetic waiter were one and the same. Incidentally, don't try complaining via the website. You get a standard reply and NO genuine feedback whatsoever. I can't believe punter keep putting up with this sort of nonsense. This one won't be anymore.s

Yes, there is something that tastes odd about the beer. I can't quite put my finger on the reason why. The best pints come when there is an ale festival and served straight from the barrel, but then there are other problems such as short measure and spillage. The same also is true about The Golden Lion in Newmarket and The Tivoli here in town. Is this a Wetherspoons thing I wonder?

There are some very odd people who get in there with some amusing mental health issues. One tours the place for hours picking up lose change that has been dropped. The most intimidating looking large man who walks with a limp, with drink problems, a regular drunk who will turn nasty. He will sit at a table after diners have departed and eat their left overs and go on to harass lady customers for their favours. Then there are those who just sit and stare. This has been going on for years and why is this tolerated?

This is possibly the worst pub in Cambridge and maybe even England.

We found the staff rude and the food less than mediocre - cold and greasy.

And when questioning a staff member we were yelled at!

Complaining to corporate did nothing because I got a letter back stating that their staff is fully trained and it seems that I was mistaken!!!

DON'T GO THERE UNLESS YOU ONLY HAVE £2 AND ARE DESPARATE FOR A DRINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it really is that grim. Food especially. There was ice still in my onion bhargee one Curry night, yet they still managed to burn the outside. Complaining gets nowhere so it is not worth bothering. So what now? We are complaining to the wrong people. We should complain to the Cambridge City Council Licensing on alcohol and management problems, Public Health on Food matters and for the usual short measure on beer, Trading Standards at Cambridgeshire County Council.

The company mouth-piece, Tim Martin wants to practice what he preaches and pay attention to what is going on in his own organisation rather than to project himself with self glorification as 'the poor man's Richard Branson putting the world to right.

I would not shed a tear if I was to hear that The Regal was closing even though I occasionally enjoy a cheap beer.
