Saffron is an excellent curry house, prompt and friendly service,
and the food was delicious.
Its a great looking restaurant with a large car park.
If you thought you'd found the best Indian restaurant in Cambridge then you probably haven't tried Saffron.I'm very fussy about my curries and have struggled to find anywhere in Cambridge city that meets my high standards, having been spoiled rotten years ago working in Wembley (where the Ugandan Asians made their mark in the 70s with many excellent curry houses).
My partner and I were introduced to Saffron by friends of the owner, so we assumed we were getting ultra-special treatment but we've been back anonymously and it's exceeded our expectations at all levels. Even the tandoor food (normally a superficially flamed, red-dyed travesty in most Indian restaurants) was excellent and not garishly red.
Service is prompt and friendly without being fawning, there's an acre between each table so you can have an intimate conversation, and the helpings are a little more than you'd expect so go easy on the popadums and starters. There are some interesting non-standard dishes on the menu so you won't get bored easily. The chef certainly knows how to cook, but be prepared for slightly hotter than normal: tell them if you want mild!Chiz, Cambridge
