Went here off the cuff enjoyed the food, my gripe was the size of the set meal at £20 per head, there was three of us we got 6 pancakes between us, another table of two(who ordered the same meal) got 8 (four each for them 2 each for us). The main meal was no better one dish the same size whether two or more had to share. We were then charged for desserts we did not order on top of that we were expected to pay a service charge which we refused . Very dissappointed would not go back,

This is probably the best chinese restaurant in Cambridge! The service is excellent, you do pay a slight premium for it though but it's well worth it.

We used to love this restaurant, especially the superb food and the ambience and have dined here many times over the last 10 years. However, after several disappointing meals - portion sizes are getting smaller, prices are getting even higher and the chairs and tables particularly in the front section of the restaurant are extremely uncomfortable and small. We have been refused a change of table, and the waiting staff have been rude and sloppy on just too many occasions now for us to return.

A huge shame, as a meal at The Phoenix used to be a real treat.

We still enjoy a take-away (larger portion sizes, and lower prices) but in the comfort of our own home!

We booked a table for 3 people at 7.30pm. When we arrived we were shown to a table near the front door, in a very busy and draughty position. There were approximately 6 empty tables in this section, so we asked if we could have one of those instead. The waitress said no, because the restaurant was fully booked. We pointed out the empty tables, but the waitress said they were booked. We then spoke to a supervisor and the manager, who both refused to let us have a different table. So we left, and we won't be going back. We went to Yim Wah at Caxton, where the food and the service is always excellent, not to mention friendly and welcoming
